How To Enroll In Benefits

All elections must be submitted by 10:00pm on July 24th, 2022. The benefits you elect during open enrollment will be effective from August 1, 2022 to July 31st, 2023.

If you do not actively enroll in benefits for the 2022/2023 plan year, then the plans you are enrolled in for 2021/2022 will automatically be rolled into 2022/2023.

Open Enrollment will be done by using a platform called “EASE” to make the enrollment process, well – EASY!

Phoenixres.ease.com

The Benefit choices you make during your initial enrollment or annual open enrollment remain in effect for the entire year.

You can, however, modify your elections under certain circumstances, called "Qualifying Events" These are events such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, loss of eligibility under another plan. If you experience a qualifying event, you may make changes to your benefits within 30 days of the event or 60 days if the event is due to birth or adoption of a child.

Refer to your Employee Benefits Guide or contact Human Resources if you have questions about qualifying events.

HRA

How does the Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) work?

What is an HRA?

An HRA is an account that The Phoenix Residence funds to help you pay for your health care expenses. Refer to the HRA Plan Schedule of Benefits for fund threshold details.

Is an HRA a health insurance plan?

No. but your HRA does work with your insurance. When you receive care, Medica processes your claim and determines how much you owe. You can then pay this amount with money from your HRA.

Who can contribute to an HRA?

Only employer contributions are allowed.

Are there annual contribution limits?

Yes. Depending on the level of group health plan coverage, the HRA plan will provide a specific maximum reimbursement per year. Refer to the HRA Plan Schedule of Benefits for the specific annual contribution amounts.

Can unused HRA funds carryover?

No. HRA allocations reset each Plan Year.

Are funds portable?

No

Is there a tax benefit?

Yes. Employer contributions into your HRA and the claim reimbursements you receive under the HRA are tax free.

Are there interest earnings?

No

What happens to my HRA if I leave my job or retire?

You can use your HRA only for eligible medical expenses you incurred before leaving your job or retiring.

Who owns the HRA?

Your employer owns the account. You can’t take HRA funds with you if you leave your employment.

How do I pay for expenses from my HRA?

You must present your Medica ID card at the time of each medical visit. The service provider will send the claim to Medica who will then process the claim under the terms of the medical plan. On a weekly basis, Medica will provide Benefit Extras with a report showing the amount of the eligible expenses that were incurred and applied to the group health plan deductible. Where applicable, Benefit Extras will issue you a reimbursement up to the amount available in your HRA account; you will be responsible for paying your provider.
