An HRA is an account that The Phoenix Residence funds to help you pay for your health care expenses. Refer to the HRA Plan Schedule of Benefits for fund threshold details.
Is an HRA a health insurance plan?
No. but your HRA does work with your insurance. When you receive care, Medica processes your claim and determines how much you owe. You can then pay this amount with money from your HRA.
Who can contribute to an HRA?
Only employer contributions are allowed.
Are there annual contribution limits?
Yes. Depending on the level of group health plan coverage, the HRA plan will provide a specific maximum reimbursement per year. Refer to the HRA Plan Schedule of Benefits for the specific annual contribution amounts.
Can unused HRA funds carryover?

You can use your HRA only for eligible medical expenses you incurred before leaving your job or retiring.
Who owns the HRA?
Your employer owns the account. You can’t take HRA funds with you if you leave your employment.
How do I pay for expenses from my HRA?
You must present your Medica ID card at the time of each medical visit. The service provider will send the claim to Medica who will then process the claim under the terms of the medical plan. On a weekly basis, Medica will provide Benefit Extras with a report showing the amount of the eligible expenses that were incurred and applied to the group health plan deductible. Where applicable, Benefit Extras will issue you a reimbursement up to the amount available in your HRA account; you will be responsible for paying your provider.
