Washington and Lee University’s annual enrollment for employee benefits will be held from April 18th through May 6th. Annual enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to make changes to your benefit plans. Elections made during this annual enrollment period will take effect July 1, 2022.
Highlights of the July 2022 – June 2023 Plan Year:
Good news! There will be no change to the Aetna medical plans for the July 2022 plan year. You will continue to have the option to enroll in either the Aetna Choice POS II or Aetna Choice POS II Carilion plans.
As a reminder, the difference between these two medical plans is in the member cost share for certain doctor's office visits. The Aetna Choice POS II plan has a $25 copay for an office visit to an in-network Primary Care Physician (PCP). With the Aetna Choice POS II Carilion plan, members who utilize a Carilion PCP will pay a $5 copay for an office visit. Under that same plan, if you choose to use an in-network PCP who is not part of Carilion, your copay will be $30 for a PCP office visit.
Express Scripts will continue to be our pharmacy vendor. When you enroll in an Aetna medical plan you automatically receive prescription drug benefits through Express Scripts.
You have the option of electing voluntary vision benefits through the UniView vision plan. For the July 2022 plan year, there will be no change to the premiums or covered benefits under this program.
The United Concordia dental plans will continue to be offered for the July 2022 plan year. You have the option to enroll in either the Core Dental Plan or the Buy-Up Dental Plan.
Washington and Lee University offers you the option of setting up a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and setting aside money from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis to pay for eligible expenses. For the 2022 - 2023 plan year, you can contribute up to $2,850 to a Healthcare FSA and up to $5,000 to a Dependent Care FSA.
As a reminder for those participating in the Healthcare FSA for 2021/2022, balances up to $550 will carry over to the new plan year.
