We review our benefit programs each year to ensure we consider the best combination of benefit coverage, network access and affordability for employees.

Eligibility
Regular employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible to participate in benefits offered by MP Technologies. If you choose to enroll in the benefits program, you may also cover your eligible dependents. Eligible dependents include your legal spouse, child(ren) up to age 26 (regardless of student status, marital status, residence, or financial dependence on you), and an unmarried child incapable of self-support.

It is important to review this guide along with the summary of benefits included on this site in order to understand each benefit and its offering.

LIFE & DISABILITY
You have the option to enroll in Voluntary Life/AD&D coverage through MetLife.
Who's Your Beneficiary? Naming a beneficiary is a crucial part of electing life insurance. Also, don't forget to update your primary or secondary beneficiary if you experience a life event, such as a divorce or birth of a child.
Voluntary Short Term Disability
Everyday illnesses or injuries can interfere with your ability to work. Even a few weeks away from work can make it difficult to manage household costs. Short Term Disability coverage provides financial protection for you by paying a portion of your income, so you can focus on getting better and worry less about keeping up with your bills. You have the option to enroll in Short Term Disability coverage through MetLife. Benefits begin after a 14 day waiting period. The benefit pays 60% of your income to a maximum of $2,500 per week.
Voluntary Long Term Disability
Serious illnesses or accidents can interrupt your life, and your ability to work for months – even years. Long Term Disability provides financial protection for you by paying a portion of your income, so you have financial support to manage your disability and your household. You have the option to enroll in Long Term Disability coverage through MetLife. Benefits begin after a 90 day elimination period. Benefits are equal to 60% of covered monthly earnings up to the stated maximum based on your employment classification.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a FREE benefit available to all MP employees. The EAP provides you with anytime access to professional counseling, information, and resources to help you through difficult times. This is a great resource if you are looking to speak to someone confidentially (online or via phone) about any hardships you may be facing. This service is 100% confidential and no information is shared with the employer. You do NOT need to be on MP’s health insurance to utilize.
Our EAP & Mental Health Services are managed by Telus Health:
TELUS Health offers extra help for handling real-world, everyday challenges. You and your family members can receive free and confidential assistance for resources, referrals and counseling by qualified professionals.
Resources available include:
- Mental health, addiction, stress, and smoking cessation support
- Family concerns, child/elder care
- Financial advice and legal concerns
There is no cost to your or your family to use your EAP. Your EAP can provide a series of sessions with a professional and if you need more specialized or longer-term support, our team of experts can suggest an appropriate specialist or service that is best suited for your needs. While fees for these additional services are your responsibility, they may be covered by your health insurance plan.
Your EAP is completely confidential within the limits of the law. No one, including your employer, will ever know that you have used the program unless you choose to tell them.
