Helping you and your family reach and maintain good health is very important to Porter's. Porter's is pleased to offer a selection of benefits designed with your health and financial wellbeing in mind. We review our benefit programs each year to ensure we consider the best combination of benefit coverage, network access and affordability for employees.
Eligibility
Regular employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible to participate in benefits offered by Porter's. When you enroll in the benefits program, you may also cover your eligible dependents. Dependents include your legal spouse, child(ren) up to age 26 (regardless of student status, marital status, residence, or financial dependence on you), and an unmarried child incapable of self-support.
Porter's remains committed to providing a competitive, cost-effective benefit program. We are implementing many changes and additions for the 2024 plan year, which we hope will be positively received by you and your families. Below are highlights of changes that will become effective on 4/1/2024.

Baker Benefits utilizing the Cigna network will continue to be the administer of your medical and prescription drug benefits this year.

Better Way RX Plus
In addition to deeper discounts at the pharmacy counter, enrolling in the program means you’ll earn Bucks every time you fill an eligible prescription that you can use on future pharmacy visits.
Your employer's dental plan provides comprehensive coverage to help you and your family maintain good dental health.
You have a passive PPO dental plan, meaning you can go to any doctor of your choice. Should you choose a doctor that happens to be in-network, you may receive additional discounts, but you do not have to see a networked doctor.

Porter's offers vision coverage through Guardian to help pay for eye exams, prescription glasses and contact lenses. You receive a higher level of benefits when you see a provider in the VSP Network. Review your coverage details in your Benefit Guide.

Laser Correction Surgery:
Discounts on average of 10-20% off usual and customary charge or 5% off promotional price for vision laser Surgery. Members out-of-pocket costs are limited to $1,800 per eye for LASIK or $1,500 per eye for PRK or $2300 per eye for Custom LASIK, Custom PRK, or Bladeless LASIK. Laser surgery is not an insured benefit. The surgery is available at a discounted
fee. The covered person must pay the entire discounted fee. In addition, the laser surgery discount may not be available in all states.
Porter's provides you with Basic Life/AD&D coverage through Blue Cross and Blues Shield of Texas.
Basic Life/AD&D
Employees working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for $25,000 coverage payable to your designated beneficiary in the event of your death. An additional accidental death & dismemberment benefit (AD&D) is payable to you in the event of a covered dismemberment or to your beneficiary if your death is the result of an accident.
Who's Your Beneficiary? Naming a beneficiary is a crucial part of electing life insurance. Also, don't forget to update your primary or secondary beneficiary if you experience a life event, such as a divorce or marriage.
Voluntary Life/AD&D
A sudden accident or death can leave you or your loved ones in a vulnerable position. Employees have the opportunity to enroll in Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance which will supplement lost income in the event of an accident or death. If you choose to enroll in employee coverage, this will be in addition to your employer provided Basic Life coverage.You must enroll in employee coverage to enroll a dependent.
The Guarantee Issue Amounts for Employees, Spouses, and Children are as follows:
•Employee Guarantee Issue: $50,000, Spouse Guarantee Issue: $25,000, Child Guarantee Issue: $10,000
In addition, a special Evidence of Insurability Rules section is included below for further understanding as you consider coverage for you and your family. Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is a process where you complete an application on your health to qualify for certain amounts of coverage.
Age Reduction
Life and AD&D benefits reduce by 35% of the original amount at age 65 and further reduce by 50% of the original amount at age 70.

Free and immediate confidential support to individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or in crisis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
