Please review this page and available resources for information to make your travels smooth.

Packing & Luggage

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has many guidelines on what type of items can be packed in your luggage. You can view the rules around packing liquids here and find a full comprehensive list of the do's and don'ts for packing here.

Use the buttons below to access your airlines specific requirements for size, weight, fees, and other limitations of your luggage.

Disabilities & Medications

Any passenger with a disability, medication, or medical supplies may complete a TSA Notification Card and present it to the TSA Officers at the Security Checkpoint. This will make the TSA Officer aware of the medical condition and prepare for an alternative screening method. The TSA Notification Card can be accessed using the button below.

Children Travelers

Security

The Airport

Check out this video of wish kid Addy for a firsthand airport experience and view the standard procedures below. You may then select the airport you will be flying out of for specific details and resources to make your travels easier!

Standard Airport Procedures

Prior to your Arrival to the Airport

  • Check-In You may choose to check-in via your airlines mobile app which will allow you to check-in for your flight up to 24 hours in advance. You do not have to use this option and may check-in at the airport.

Arrival to the Airport

  • Drop-Off If you have chosen to arrive to the airport via the car service provided by, Make-A-Wish, you will be dropped off at the "Departures" area of the airport.

  • Check-In Upon entry, you will need to Check-In if you have not already done so prior to your arrival. You may use a self-service kiosk, or you may visit the Check-In counter. If you have checked-in in advance, you will still need to approach the Check-In counters to drop off Checked Luggage. Locate your airlines Check-In counter (there will be multiple), as you approach the counter, have your identification handy and boarding pass (a paper hardcopy or on mobile device) if you checked-in previously using a mobile app or kiosk. If you have not checked-in previously, the check-in representative will print your boarding pass for you.

  • Checked Luggage will be collected by a representative at the Check-In counter. The checked luggage will need to be lifted onto the scale at the counter where it will be weighed, tagged, and placed behind the counter to be loaded onto the airplane. You will also be provided a small slip that correlates to the tag placed on your checked luggage.

  • Security After completing check-in and dropping off your checked luggage, you will then need to enter the security lines. At this time, dispose of any drinks you may have with you (aside from drinks for young children). As you approach the TSA Officer at security, have your identification and boarding pass handy. If a member of your group has completed a TSA Notification Card for medical conditions, have that handy as well.

  • Security Once you have passed through the security officer at entry, grab a bin and place your personal belongings in the bin (purse, handbag, pockets contents, coats/jackets, shoes), any laptop or tablets must be taken out of bags and placed in a bin by itself. Place any carryon luggage on the belt next to your bin, stay with your items and feed them through the security detector. From there you will enter through the metal detector or modified security measures. Once through the detector and/or modified security measures, collect your bags and bins from the belt after they have flowed through the security detector. At this time, you can put your shoes and jacket back on and refill your pockets, etc.

  • Gate Your boarding pass will have a gate letter/number combination to indicate which gate your flight will be boarded (example below).

  • Gate Sometimes at the time of boarding pass printing, a gate may not be indicated on your boarding pass. If that happens, there is a large screen shortly after security that has all the flights listed and their corresponding gates. Reference your flight number on your boarding pass to find your assigned gate on the screen in the event there is no gate on your boarding pass.
