FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS

Please keep in mind, FSA Accounts have a “use it or lose it” rule, minus the rollover for the Health Care FSA. Therefore, you must predict your 2021 spending when electing this benefit. You cannot change it during the year once elected. Careful planning is required!

Health Care FSA

o   The IRS has not increased the Health Care FSA maximum deferral for 2021; therefore, that will remain at $2,750.

o   The rollover feature will increase from $500 to $550. This is effective with the 2020 plan year.

Dependent Care

o   Maximum deferral will remain at $5,000 per year.

WELLNESS INCENTIVE

For those enrolling in LVF’s medical plans, biometric screenings will not be conducted for plan year 2021 due to COVID-19. Those currently paying a surcharge will no longer be charged after the 12/24/2020 pay. LVF expects to resume the biometric screening in 2022, with consideration to the status of the public health crisis at that time.

Enrollment Decisions

Why is Open Enrollment Important to Me?

You should carefully consider your Open Enrollment decisions because your elections remain in effect for the entire plan year (January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021). After you enroll, the only time that you can make changes to your benefits program during the plan year is if you experience a special enrollment situation or a change in family status. Otherwise, no changes can be made. Special enrollment is noted below.

A change in family status defined by the IRS includes:

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Death of a dependent
  • Start or end of your spouses’ employment and insurance coverage
  • Your dependent becomes ineligible for coverage
  • Becoming eligible for Medicare or Medicaid during the plan year
