Why is my New Hire Enrollment Important to Me?

Your New Hire Enrollment is the only time, outside of the annual Open Enrollment period, that you can choose to enroll in benefits. Outside of the New Hire Enrollment period and Open Enrollment period, you can only make changes to your benefits if you experience a Qualified Life Event. Please see the Benefit Guidebook for additional details on Qualifying Life Events.

Important Eligibility Rules

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to enroll in benefits.

Your eligible dependents include:

  • Legal spouse
  • Children up to age 26, which includes
    • Natural children
    • Legally adopted children
    • Stepchildren
    • Children for whom you are the appointed legal guardian
    • Children named in a Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO)
  • Children over age 26 that are unable to support themselves due to a physical or mental disability - additional documentation is required and subject to carrier review

How to Enroll

Employees can make benefit elections by filling out the election form and completing the Independence Blue Cross carrier application form, if applicable. The signed forms can be returned using one of the below options:

AblePay

AblePay Health is a voluntary employee benefit offered at NO-COST to you that can save you money on your deductible, coinsurance and even some copays (up to 13%) while also providing you with extended payment terms (over 3, 6, or 12 months). You can enroll whether you have your benefits through Produce Junction or elsewhere.

AblePay contracts with over 35 hospitals and 900 physician groups. AblePay has also had success getting discounts for their members at other providers so use the card everywhere and if not a participating provider, AblePay will try and contract with them.

  • Save Money! AblePay helps members save up to 13% on their deductible and coinsurance
  • For the flexible payment options (all with discounts or 0% interest) – you can make payments with a bank account (checking, savings, HSA) or pay with a card (credit, debit, or HSA)
  • All medical bills are stored in your member portal, eliminating stacks of paper and providing easy access for future reference or substantiation
  • Member bills are paid directly through your secure portal with a click of a button, eliminating the need to write multiple checks

Payment Terms and Discounts

  • 1 pay: 13% Bank ACH, 10% Card
  • 3 pays: 10% Bank ACH, 7% Card
  • 6 pays: 8% Bank ACH, 5% Card
  • Payment terms up to 12 months – No Discount/No Interest
