Life & Disability

Baldwin Supply provides you with Basic & Voluntary Life/AD&D coverage as well as Short Term Disability and Voluntary Long-Term Disability through The Standard.

Basic Life/AD&D

Employees working 30 or more hours per week are provided with $20,000 in Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage.

Baldwin also covers dependents with a life benefit of $2,000 for spouses and $1,000 for children.

Voluntary Life/AD&D

Employees have the opportunity to enroll in Voluntary Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance which will supplement lost income in the event of an accident or death. If you choose to enroll in employee coverage, this will be in addition to your employer provided Basic Life coverage.

Who's Your Beneficiary? Naming a beneficiary is a crucial part of electing life insurance. Also, don't forget to update your primary or secondary beneficiary if you experience a life event, such as a divorce or birth of a child.

Short Term Disability

Baldwin Supply offers a Pay Continuation plan to employees. Please see HR for details.

Voluntary Long Term Disability

Serious illnesses or accidents can interrupt your life, and your ability to work for months – even years. Please consult your Employee Benefits Guide and review the benefit summaries for additional details.

FSA

Flexible Spending Accounts

The Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible expenses. By contributing to one or both of the Flexible Spending Accounts you reduce your taxable income, so you pay less in taxes — which saves you money.

Contributions

The election you make during enrollment is your election for the entire plan year. You may change it only if you have a qualifying life event and the change request must be consistent with the event.

You may contribute as follows:

Health Care FSA

  • Up to $2,850 annually
  • All benefit eligible can participate, unless you or your spouse are contributing to an HSA.
  • Reimbursements allowed for unreimbursed medical, prescription, dental, and vision expenses

Limited Care FSA

  • Up to $2,850 annually
  • Employees who enroll in either of Baldwin Supply’s medical plans may participate in the Limited Health Care FSA
  • Reimbursements allowed for unreimbursed dental, and vision expenses

Dependent Care FSA

  • Up to $5,000 annually
  • Limited to $2,500 if you are married and file separate tax returns

How the Plan Works

You must incur your eligible expenses during the plan year — January 1 to December 31. An expense is considered to be incurred when the service is performed, not when you are billed or pay for the service. You do, however, have until March 31st annually to file your claims. If you do not use up all the FSA Medical dollars you elected to have deducted for the year, you will be able to carry over up to $570 from the current plan year into the new plan year. However, FSA Dependent Care still has the “use it or lose it” rule and unspent dollars cannot be carried over into the next plan year.

HSA

Health Savings Account

The Health Savings Account (HSA) allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible expenses. By contributing to a HSA you reduce your taxable income, so you pay less in taxes — which saves you money.

To be eligible for an HSA, you must be enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

You may contribute as follows:

  • $3,650 for a single contract
  • $7,300 for a two person or family

Employer Contribution

If you participate in and complete the wellness challenges, Baldwin will continue to make the following contributions into your HSA:

  • $800 annually - Single
  • $1,600 annually - Two person or family
