HSA & FSA(s)

Provider: HR Simplified

If you are enrolled in a qualified high deductible health plan (HDHP), you are eligible to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA is a tax-advantaged savings account that you can use for medical, dental, vision and hearing expenses. It is paired with a qualifying health insurance plan--the High Deductible + HSA plan--which offers lower monthly premiums in exchange for a higher deductible (the amount you pay out of pocket before insurance kicks in).

Your HSA is administered by HR Simplified.

Augsburg also offers three (3) Flexible Spending Account (FSAs) options:

  • Health Care FSA for employees enrolled in the Low Deductible Plan or employees not enrolled in Augsburg's medical plan.
  • The Medical FSA allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis that can be used to cover out-of-pocket expenses for medical, dental, vision and hearing costs that are not covered by the plan.
  • Limited FSA for employees enrolled in the High Deductible + HSA Plan.
  • The Limited FSA allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis that can be used to cover out-of-pocket expenses for dental, vision, and post-deductible medical ONLY.
  • Dependent Care FSA for employees with eligible dependents and day care needs during the work day (no medical election is required).
  • The Dependent Care FSA is used to set aside pre-tax dollars to cover day-care/elder-care expenses for eligible dependents.

Please refer to the HSA/FSA Q&A document below for some important reminders about these benefits.
