Medical & Rx

Health Alliance Plan (HAP)

Health Alliance Plan (HAP) will be your NEW medical and prescription carrier. The four plan options include two PPO plans, a PPO HSA plan, and an HMO plan. View the Providers & Networks for more information on how these plans networks differ from each other as well as buttons to locate participating providers.

If you enroll in one of the medical plans, please be sure to register through the HAP member portal where you can access important information, including participating providers, explanation of benefits, and your deductibles and out-of-pocket costs.

Michigan First's dental plans provide comprehensive coverage to help you and your family maintain good dental health. Eligible team members may choose between two plans. The EPO plan is the lower cost dental plan, there is NO out of network coverage for this plan and the benefits are based on a fee schedule. The PPO plan provides richer dental benefits and provides both in and out of network coverage. Be aware if you go out of network, your costs will be higher.

If you are already enrolled in one of the Michigan First Delta Dental plans today and have not already done so, please be sure to register through the Delta Dental member portal where you can access important information pertaining to your dental plan with Delta Dental including participating providers, coverage information, and explanation of benefits/claims. If you are not currently covered, you will be able to register in the Delta Dental portal as of your effective date of coverage.

Vision

Michigan First offers vision coverage through BCBSM to help pay for eye exams, prescription glasses and contact lenses. BCBSM partners with VSP to utilize their network of vision providers, your VSP vision network is VSP Choice.

If you are already enrolled in Michigan First's BCBS vision plan today and have not already done so, please be sure to register through the BCBS member portal where you can access important information pertaining to your vision plan with BCBS including participating providers, coverage information, and explanation of benefits/claims. If you are not currently covered, you will be able to register in the BCBS portal as of your effective date of coverage.

Financial Protection

Michigan First understands the importance to you and your family to have strong financial protection. We provide all employees Basic Life/AD&D and Disability coverage at no cost to you. In addition to these benefits, we offer a variety of insurance you can choose from on a voluntary, employee paid basis so you can select what is best for your family. All of these coverages are provided to protect your income and out of pocket expenses.

Michigan First realizes that your needs go beyond just the standard insurance. This is why we also provide all employees and their families access to personal service and assistance resources at no cost. 401k

Fidelity Investments

A 401(k) plan is a retirement savings plan designed to allow eligible employees to supplement social security and other existing retirement savings accounts by saving and investing through a voluntary salary contribution. Fidelity administers the Michigan First Credit Union 401(k) Savings plan.

Eligibility Requirements & Enrollment

Employees that are over the age of 19 are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan after 60 days of service. You can enroll in the plan the first of the month coinciding or following eligibility. New employees will be automatically enrolled at 3% of eligible pay beginning once they reach eligibility, unless they opt out of participation.

Employee Contributions & Limits

You may make Traditional (pre-tax) and/or Roth (after-tax) contributions to the plan. 

2025 Salary Deferral Limit: $23,500 (total of Traditional + Roth contributions)

2025 Catch-up Limit: $7,500 (total of Traditional + Roth contributions)

* Under a change made in SECURE 2.0, a higher catch-up contribution limit applies for employees aged 60, 61, 62 and 63 who participate in plans that adopt this provision. For 2025, this higher catch-up contribution limit is $11,250 instead of $7,500.

Employer Contributions

Your plan provides a 100% match on the first 5% you contribute each pay period. Employer contributions vest on a 2-year vesting schedule.

Updating Your Beneficiaries

It’s important to name beneficiaries for your workplace savings plan. Please take a few moments today to name your beneficiaries to ensure that your benefits will be distributed according to your wishes. You can reach the Fidelity Retirement Benefits Line at 800-835-5097 if you have any questions.

Update your beneficiary designations online:

  1. Log on to www.netbenefits.com.
  2. Click the Accounts & Benefits link.
  3. Select Update your beneficiaries and follow the online instructions.
