Dental

Aetna Dental Plan

The Monroe College Dental plan will move to Aetna beginning May 1, 2023. While the carrier is changing, there will be no change to the plan’s deductibles or coinsurance. And no change to the payroll cost for this coverage.

The Aetna Dental plan is a PPO plan, meaning the benefits paid by the plan differ for services provided by dentists that are part of the Aetna dental network, as compared to out-of-network dentists. Keep in mind that you will limit your out-of-pocket cost for services if you choose an Aetna participating dentist, as they will accept Aetna's allowed amount as payment in full. In addition, the plan has a lower deductible and pays a higher percentage of the allowed amount for certain services (e.g., fillings, oral surgery, endodontics) when you visit an Aetna network dentist.

Supplemental Life may be purchased in amounts as follows:

  • Employee coverage: the lesser of $500,000 or 5 times your annual earnings, purchased in $10,000 increments
  • Spouse coverage: the lesser of $250,000 or the amount of the employee supplemental life coverage purchased, coverage is purchased in $5,000 increments

You must have or enroll in Supplemental Life coverage for yourself if you want to purchase Supplemental Life coverage for your spouse or child(ren).

The Hartford is offering employees an opportunity to purchase additional life insurance without requiring you to complete any medical information forms – no medical questions asked! Here is what you need to know:

  • If you are not currently enrolled in Supplemental Life, you may elect up to $150,000 of Supplemental Life coverage

For new enrollments or increases to coverage that exceed $150,000, you must complete and submit an Evidence of Insurability form to The Hartford for approval. Additionally, if you wish to elect coverage for your spouse, they must submit Evidence of Insurability and the entire amount of their election must be reviewed for approval by The Hartford. Contact Human Resources for the Evidence of Insurability form. Coverage will be effective after The Hartford approves your application.

How to Enroll

Is Action Required?

This is a passive enrollment, so some elections you have in place today will roll forward to the May 1, 2023 – April 30, 2024 plan year and remain in place during that time.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) elections will not carry forward to the new plan year. You must make these benefit elections each year during annual enrollment if you would like them to continue.

Unless you have a mid-year life event, your next opportunity to elect Monroe College’s benefits will be in March 2024 (for coverage effective May 1, 2024).

You have from March 6 through March 17, 2023 to make your election.  Use the ADP link to get started!
