All regular employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible to participate in the benefit plans offered by Dexter. Direct New Hire Benefits are effective the 61st day of employment for hourly employees and effective the 1st day of employment for salary employee. If you are hired following a temp assignment, you will be eligible for benefits on the 1st day of full-time employment. When you enroll in the benefits program, you may also cover your eligible dependents. Dependents include your legal spouse and children. Dependent children eligibility is as follows:
Should your employment end with Dexter, your benefits will be terminated as of 11:59 pm of your termination date.
NEW HIRES! Action Required: You must elect or waive benefits within 30 days of hire.
The only opportunity to modify your plan elections mid-year for 2023 is if you have a Qualifying Life Event. These are events such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, loss of eligibility under another plan. If you experience a Qualifying Life Event, you may make changes to your benefits by contacting Human Resources within 30 days of the event. You will need to provide supporting documentation to support the changes based on the Qualifying Life Event (marriage/birth certificates, divorce decree's, proof of loss of coverage, etc.).

We offer a comprehensive PPO plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of MI (BCBSM) and a HDHP POS Plan with Blue Care Network.
The PPO and POS plans provide both in and out of network benefits and allow you the flexibility to see any doctor with no referrals. Please note, the POS plan does still require you to select a Primary Care Physician (PCP). Keep in mind, if you receive services from an out of network provider for either plan, your expenses are higher, and you may experience balanced billing.
