Aetna Medical / Prescription Drug Plans
Exciting news for 2022 – Aetna will be our carrier for medical and prescription drug beginning May 1, 2022!
While this is a carrier change, there will be no changes to how our plans work. That means what you pay out-of-pocket for the plans’ deductibles, copays, coinsurance, etc. will all stay the same for the new plan year.
Additionally, the paycheck contributions for the medical plans will not increase in the new plan year!
Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
If you enroll in the Aetna HRA or Aetna Enhanced HRA plan, the College will fund your Health Reimbursement Account up to $750 for Employee Only coverage and up to $1,500 for Employee and Dependent coverage.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
If you enroll in the Aetna HSA or Aetna Enhanced HSA plan, Monroe College will continue to provide a contribution to your PayFlex Health Savings Account.
The maximum you may contribute to an HSA in 2022, as set by the IRS, is:
These HSA contribution maximums include the amount contributed to your HSA by Monroe College.
As a Monroe College employee, you have access to these voluntary plan options from Cigna:
These plans pay a cash benefit for covered services. Refer to the information below to reach more about each of these plan options.
Supplemental Life may be purchase in amounts as follows:
You must have or enroll in Supplemental Life coverage for yourself if you want to purchase Supplemental Life coverage for your spouse or child(ren).
The Hartford is offering employees an opportunity to purchase additional life insurance without requiring you to complete any medical information forms – no questions asked! Here is what you need to know:
For new enrollments or increases to coverage that exceed $150,000, you must complete and submit an Evidence of Insurability form to The Hartford for approval. Additionally, if you wish to elect coverage for your spouse, they must submit Evidence of Insurability and the entire amount of their election must be reviewed for approval by The Hartford. Contact Human Resources for the Evidence of Insurability form. Coverage will be effective after The Hartford approves your application.
The Monroe College Dental plan will remain with Cigna in the May 2022 plan year. There will be no change to the plan’s deductible or coinsurance. And no change to the payroll cost for this coverage.
Monroe College’s Dental plan is a PPO plan, meaning the benefits paid by the plan differ for services provided by dentists that are part of the Cigna dental network, as compared to out-of-network dentists. Keep in mind that you will limit your out-of-pocket cost for services if you choose a Cigna participating dentist, as they will accept Cigna’s allowed amount as payment in full. In addition, the plan has a lower deductible and pays a higher percentage of the allowed amount for certain services (e.g., fillings, oral surgery, endodontics) when you visit a Cigna network dentist.
Monroe College provides you with additional benefits at no cost to you:
Additional employee-paid benefits available to you:
This is a passive enrollment, so some elections you have in place today will roll forward to the May 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023 plan year and remain in place during that time.

Unless you have a mid-year life event, your next opportunity to elect Monroe College’s benefits will be in March 2023 (for coverage effective May 1, 2023).
You have from March 7 through March 18, 2022 to make your election. Use the ADP link to get started!
