Medical, Prescription Drug and Vision
Aetna Medical & Pharmacy
There will be no changes to your medical plan this year. Your HDHP and CORE plan options are being offered again this year. That means what you pay out-of-pocket for the plans’ deductibles, copays, coinsurance, etc. will all stay the same for the new plan year.
Refer to the 2021 Benefit Guidebook for details regarding your payroll costs.
Aetna Vision
Your vision benefits are bundled with your medical benefits. There are no changes to the vision benefits for the 2021 plan year.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
If you enroll in the HDHP plan, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a tax-advantaged Health Savings Account:
The maximum you may contribute to an HSA in 2021, as set by the IRS is:
- $3,600 for Employee Only coverage
- $7,200 with any dependents enrolled
- Up to $1,000 additional catch-up contribution if you are age 55 or older
The maximum you may contribute to an HSA in 2022, as set by the IRS is:
- $3,650 for Employee Only coverage
- $7,300 with any dependents enrolled
- Up to $1,000 additional catch-up contribution if you are age 55 or older
Dental
Philly Shipyard’s Dental plan will remain the same for the September 2021 plan year, with no change to the plan’s deductible or coinsurance. Refer to the 2021 Benefit Guidebook for details regarding payroll costs.
Philly Shipyard’s Dental plan is a PPO plan, meaning the benefits paid by the plan are different for services provided by dentists that are part of Aetna’s dental network, as compared to out-of-network dentists. Keep in mind that you will limit your out-of-pocket cost for services if you choose an Aetna participating dentist, as they will accept Aetna’s allowed amount as payment in full. In addition, the plan has a lower deductible and pays a higher percentage of the allowed amount for certain services (e.g., fillings, oral surgery, endodontics) when you visit a dentist that participates in Aetna’s network.
Supplemental Life
Supplemental Life may be purchased in the amounts as follows:
- Employee coverage: the lesser of $500,000 or 5 times your annual earnings
- Spouse coverage: the lesser of $50,000 or the amount of the employee supplemental life coverage purchased
- Child coverage: $10,000
You must have or enroll in Supplemental Life coverage for yourself if you want to purchase Supplemental Life coverage for your spouse or child(ren).
For new enrollments or increases to coverage that exceed $100,000 for Employee Supplemental Life or $20,000 for Spouse Supplemental Life, you must complete and submit an Evidence of Insurability form to The Hartford for approval. Coverage will be effective after The Hartford approves your application.
Additional Benefits
Philly Shipyard provides you with additional benefits at no cost to you:

How To Enroll
This is a passive enrollment, so some elections you have in place today will roll forward to the September 1, 2021 – August 31, 2022 plan year and remain in place during that time.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) election will not carry forward to the new plan year. You must make these benefit elections each year during annual enrollment if you would like them to continue.
Unless you have a mid-year life event, your next opportunity to elect Philly Shipyard’s benefits will be in August 2022 (for coverage effective September 1, 2022).
You have from August 16 through August 30, 2021 to make your election.
